Gamevance is a gaming site which provides access to some free games and offers the chance of winning prizes. It features a number of online games in which you are able to win a prize on a daily basis by holding the highest score in a 24 hour daily "tournament.” Examples include Egg Drop, which involves Click on the Eggs to make them land safely in the Soup, and Rock Paper Scissors tournaments. Tournaments that reward prizes and cash are incentive for you to update your status from browser to user.
You are encouraged to sign up, submit a profile photo, and write a brief "About Me" description on your home page. Statistics on your game proficiency, which include games you have played and won, challenges you have accepted, but also personal information such as your place of residence, age, friend list, and online status, can be shared. Further networking is encouraged by features such as the “Hall of Fame” option on the top of the homepage, which enables you to browse winners of gift cards. You can browse a gallery featuring pictures of you holding your gift cards with short personal messages beneath the pictures.

When I initially visited Gamevance I was not sure what to expect as all I had to go on was the name. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Gamevance was actually a site for playing games. According to the homepage it has many original game titles that can be played for free and the players qualify to win prizes. In order to be eligible for prizes when playing games you are required to create a username and password along with a profile. I did this and it only took a few moments to complete. You are then required to update your profile with some user information and also a photo which is a requirement if you want to be able to win prizes from the tournaments. I thought the profile idea was a nice concept and the set up of the profile page was nicely done however it could be improved if they added some more options for the user to personalize their profile. Navigating through the site was fairly simply.
I am sure the games would be a lot of fun and the games are what make the site worth visiting.
